The Mold Golf Club Parson’s Pot is given to an individual on Presentation Evening every year at the discretion of the Captain to recognise extraordinary contribution to the Club. The Parson’s Pot for 2021 is presented to Beth Davies who has seamlessly combined her role as Lady Captain, and all that entails, with her work at the Club as Head of Reception, as well as flying the flag for Mold Golf Club on the Denbighshire & Flintshire Ladies County Committee. Beth eats, sleeps and breathes Mold Golf Club.
She is here at the crack of dawn opening the pro shop and reception for the day job and often still here late at night for a meeting, a function or even helping out on the bar when we are short staffed. There is rarely a day we don’t see Beth – she has this Club at heart always and works so hard for us all – often in ways we don’t even realise.
Beth is the face of Mold Golf Club for many members and visitors, based as she is in the Pro Shop and is at the end of the phone much of the time taking enquiries and arranging society bookings – always cheerful and helpful. She is like a
glue holding things together and always there with a solution rather than a problem. Beth has worked tirelessly this year to fulfil all her roles and was a great ambassador for the Club during Wales Finals week in September.
During Beth’s year as Lady Captain, this year, the Club has for the first time achieved the Women In Golf Charter from the R&A which is a great achievement and shows how successful our Club is with ladies and girl members. Beth always offers a friendly and encouraging welcome to new members and has actively supported New2Golf and Back2Golf this
year. As we know Beth is a fantastic golfer herself – our course record holder and a former Welsh Champion. This year she has had to miss out on playing due to an injury but we all wish her well and hope to see her back playing full time before too long.
Over the past two years, Beth has supported me tremendously and I would like to offer a personal thank you to her for all her work, in particular for our Captains’ Charities. Beth has been the driving force behind our fundraising and has pulled out all the stops for all our activities, including the highly successful charity auction last month. Beth has kept me going and been there for me throughout and for that I am so grateful – she’s also tried hard to stop me saying the
occasional swear word – which as you know is rare for me – and I thank her for that too!! She has looked after me and kept me on the straight and narrow! It has been such a pleasure working with her over the past two years.
Beth is a member, a Lady Captain and staff member to be proud of on every level. This award is very well deserved and we thank you Beth for all you do for our Club. You are an absolute star!
Mr Captain, 2020/21 Colin Davies
