A Game Down Memory Lane

Mr Captain Garry Davies and our seniors were very pleased to welcome a special guest to play with them this week who last set foot on our course over 40 years ago. Kyffin Roberts (pictured centre left and also with Phill Lloyd left and Chris Smith far right) is from the village but has lived around the world and now resides in Scotland. He is a member of The New Course at St. Andrews. As a boy in the Board School in Mold, Kyffin, aged 12 / 13 would caddy for MGC’s
older players on the then 9 hole course (before the days of electric trolleys!) following a request from the school’s headteacher asking for boys to help. Kyffin enjoyed those days which also made him some pocket money and he went on to learn the game himself. He last played Mold in the 1980s. Good to welcome you back Kyffin and we hope you enjoyed your game – and using a buggy this time rather than having to carry clubs on your back!
