Mold Golf Club Manager Debbie Barton receives the Women in Golf Charter from Simon Lu of Wales Golf and R&A Captain Clive Edginton accompanied by Mold Golf Club junior girls, junior organisers and lady members.

Mold Golf Club has been presented with the Women in Golf Charter from the R&A with the handover made all the more special as it took place at the Curtis Cup – the pinnacle event in the ladies’ amateur game. Mold Golf Club Manager Debbie Barton, accompanied by junior girl members, junior girl organisers and lady members, received the Charter at Conwy Golf Club from R&A Captain Clive Edginton and Simon Lu from Wales Golf, with the Curtis Cup on display.

The Women in Golf Charter aims to inspire an industry-wide commitment to developing a more inclusive culture within golf around the world, enabling more women and girls to flourish and maximise their potential at all levels of the sport.

The Charter focuses on encouraging more women and girls to play golf and stay within the sport as members of clubs, while also empowering women to enjoy successful careers working within the golf industry.
The Women in Golf Charter specifically aims to:
 Strengthen the focus on gender balance and provide a united position for the golf industry
 Commit national federations and organisations to support measures targeted at increasing participation of women, girls and families in golf
 Call upon signatories to take positive action to support the recruitment, retention and progression of women working at all levels of the sport
 Set individual targets for national associations for participation and membership and reporting progress annually
 Develop an inclusive environment for women and girls within golf Debbie said: “We are absolutely committed to women and girls golf here at Mold.

We have a very strong ladies section with over 100 members and probably one of the largest numbers of junior girl members in Wales. “Our ladies section, Junior Managers and Club professionals work very hard in encouraging ladies and girls, we have a female Club Manager for the first time and an equal staff balance. Every year we encourage women and girls into the game through our Junior Academy and our New2Golf and Back2Golf schemes which all make the game accessible to everyone of all ages and all abilities – from absolute beginners to elite players. We have also delivered golf lessons in schools to help inspire young players into the game. “We are very proud to hold the Charter and will continue to do our best to promote the game to women and girls. Thank you to the R&A and Wales Golf for their support and encouragement and to our members at Mold for making the Club such a friendly and inclusive place to be.”

Mold Golf Club Lady Captain Beth Davies added: “I feel very proud that we have achieved this during my year in office and I would like to thank the R&A and all at our Club for their efforts in making this possible. Our junior girls were delighted to attend a coaching clinic at the Curtis Cup just prior to the presentation which was a lovely opportunity for them. Thank you very much to Wales Golf for organising it.”
