PARSON’S POT WINNER 2020 – DAVE FAULKNER

The Mold Golf Club Parson’s Pot is given to an individual on Presentation Evening every year at the discretion of the Captain to recognise extraordinary contribution to the Club.

  • The Parson’s Pot for 2020 (presented at the belated 2020 Presentation Evening in October 2021) is presented to House Chairman and Premises Licensee Dave Faulkner. Dave really is a man for all seasons with the Club firmly at heart in all he does. He is never far from the Club, here almost every day, and is not only Mr Fix It, but he is also Mr Plan it, Mr Do It, Mr Improve it and so much more. He is a man with a vision at the hub of our Club – the driving force behind the improvements we have seen in the clubhouse and other projects beyond.
  • He works incredibly hard for the Club himself and is also supported by a small number of House Committee volunteers who are a great help when needed.
  • Dave wins this award for his contribution during what was probably one of the most testing times in Mold Golf Club’s 111-year history. During a year blighted by a global pandemic, Dave worked tirelessly to ensure the
Club not only survived, but thrived. A year that started with such promise with plans for phase 3 of the clubhouse development – the lounge area – became a huge challenge in ways none of us could have predicted.
  • Phase 3, continued during the year, project managed by Dave, with revised scheduling, and we have all benefitted from the new look clubhouse which has brought a far more modern and light feel to our surroundings. Following on from the interior works, towards the end of 2020, Dave drove the effort to create a fantastic patio space outside which came to fruition this year and has proved a huge asset to the Club, particularly post lockdown with external areas at a premium.
  • Dave has spent many, many hours negotiating and liaising with contractors over the year, ensuring we get the best job done at the best price. This in itself is no mean feat.
  • Covid brought a whole new challenge to us all and our thanks go to Dave for all he did and continues to do for the Club in this regard. Very quickly in 2020, he set about sourcing and placing new signage and screens and
set up a temporary reception area in our Junior Room to safeguard our staff by keeping them apart. He ensured the clubhouse was safe during lockdown, popping up constantly to check. Even when we couldn’t meet in person, Dave was at the end of a Zoom call keeping a constant eye on activities.
  • Dave’s list of maintenance jobs is never ending. Looking after Mold Golf Club’s fixtures and fittings is like tending to the Fourth Bridge – just when he thinks he’s on top of things, there’s more little, and sometimes big,
tasks to add. He has painted the car park lines and put new signs up, he’s painted inside the clubhouse, put tee signs up on the course, and when anything breaks down, needs fixing, putting on the wall, you name it – the first question is where’s Dave?! If you want logs – it’s Dave!
  • Dave has many talents (including making benches for the patio) and we are very fortunate to have a man with his professional experience, enthusiasm and expertise at the heart of our Club on our Management Committee.
  • This award is very well deserved and we thank you Dave for all you do for our Club. We are just glad we don’t have to pay you by the hour!
